first attempts: drawing everyday
It all started when I realized I can listen to my instructors as they lecture about the day’s lesson when I doodle. I doodled just about anything. At 8 years old I just knew I liked papers, colored pens, and shapes. I started with the safest and most playful things I could muster at 2nd grade, with my short uncoordinated hands. Every page in my composition notebook would have a heart shape on there, and a random face with a funny expression doodled in between note-taking. It was something I would look forward to every day. I have learned since that it is an integral part of me so I practiced and practiced. From many heart drawing variations, I started drawing faces in it. Not long after, I started drawing people I imagined in my head. I used up my notebooks and cheap sketchbooks I got from when I would sneak in a little purchase during my family’s quick Ross runs. Although, eventually, I had to learn to make time for drawing instead of doing it all the time… because y’know, life. I still had academics, chores, family, my baby brother, our new dog.
Check out my old stuff but promise not to laugh! ;)
